The PM and this Government are out of their depth and are relying on gimmicks and maintaining a false narrative to try and look credible

img_5861So there it is. The Lockdown continues. But it doesn’t. But actually it does.

Clear as mud.

This is a Prime Minister and Government living in terror of the monster they have created by responding irrationally to a pandemic that they still don’t understand, now hiding from the consequences of the Lockdown that they never needed to impose.

We are being treated like children at best but more like fools, rather than the adults that we are.

We are being expected to respect and swallow the statistics and the diagrams as if they have been created with guarantees and authority when the people who created them have no better idea of where this is all going than anyone else does.

This whole exercise has become about the self preservation of a Government that is completely out of its depth, led by a Prime Minister who is obsessed with controlling the legacy that he believes it is his right to leave.

The cost of this foolishness and ineptitude is simply too high.

The Lockdown needs to end now without any restrictions on our lives being left in place in any way so that the UK can get up and be ready to face another day.

If this Government continues on the path that it is, people will be left alive but without lives to live.

Boris, it’s time to learn about making the right decisions for ‘everyone’ rather the right ones for ‘you’

Boris was and still is the best of a very bad bunch the it comes to which current MP is PM. But we are now in a national crisis and the best we have in Parliament simply isn’t good enough to do the job.

Doing the right thing for one is not doing the right thing for all, and the fear that is driving Boris and his Government to make bad decision after bad decision is throwing the Country to the wall.

We haven’t had grown ups in Government for a very long time. At some level it didn’t seem to matter, even though the reality is that for all that time, normal people who didn’t deserve it have been being hurt as a result.

But times have changed. We are in very troubled times that are set to get much worse.

Quite simply, we have the wrong politicians for the job in hand. They are a selfish bunch. Ambitious to the core. And from all sides come from positions of privilege, whether it is their backgrounds first or just the leg up and parachute drop into power that they have had by being part of a party machine that exists only to propagate itself and makes a mockery of what we call democracy in the UK.

These people have been entrusted with the responsibilities of public leadership, yet they are inept and unable to distinguish the difference between the objective thinking that should be necessary to fulfil their roles and the limited and subjective and fear-driven views of the world they have which are then filtered by the lens of their own echo-chambered life experience in every way.

It means that they simply are not equipped to make decisions responsibly for all as if all were only one because they believe that knowing one person is the same as knowing all.

With the Country now in a crisis that Boris and his Government has created off the back of an emergency they should have aimed to manage rather than attempt to control, things are going from bad to worse.

The politicians we have in Government are being led by the nose by stories of the personal tragedies of others and the experiences that they have personally had, rather than using the information they have to inform against the full backdrop of what is going on for everyone else and how the COVID-19 emergency and the crisis that is unfolding is already and is going to affect us all.

To get the UK out of the giant hole that the Johnson Government has dug us all into, the mindset suggesting that one life is worth more than another because it has been featured in the news simply has to stop and be put back into its box.

None of this crisis that we are now in is about individuals or specific groups or any specific kind of cause getting on top.

Getting through this is now about doing what is right for everyone. That means taking decisions that the media and noisy voices are not going to like, rather than believing that image and headlines should be the primary focus and cause.

Boris was likeable as a leader when the stakes didn’t appear to be so high. But we now need someone in No10 who will do whats right rather than worry about the headlines and social media attacks whist they lead us all through this storm. Boris simply isn’t that guy.

Desperate times ahead: Boris used clever slogans to scare us to death so we would stay at home. Now he has no easy way out

img_5850The anticipation that the Lockdown is about to end is more than palpable and has been for several days. People are in two groups: Those who want to be out, back at work and do get on with whatever it is that they want to do, and those who are too terrified to live because they have been scared to death with manipulative propaganda and now believe that the world can be stopped from turning until the Coronavirus problem has been solved.

The black magic that is Behavioural Insights should have come with a warning clause that using them in the wrong way can create far more problems than they will ever fix and particularly in an emergency when the instigator feels that their back is up against a wall.

The messages that we have become used to like ‘stay at home, save lives’, ‘protect the NHS’ and ‘social distancing’ have created a new, powerful and completely shit-scared demographic within our society that is now too afraid of dying from Coronavirus to actually live.

The problem has been compounded by the Chancellors knee-jerk giveaway which has created the misconception amongst many of the same people that they can stay at home and be paid at least 80% of their full wage to do so indefinitely, whilst empowering them to feel it ok to preach and project vitriol at anyone else who dares to break the framework of the social distancing measures that have been imposed or to speak up about the reality of the damage the Johnson Government has already done to an economy which is about facilitating everyones lives and not just their own.

With the Lockdown and the measures that Boris & co implemented to try and control a situation that can only be managed unleashed and now building up a momentum of their own, it is no great surprise that the Government is looking for some kind of release.

The problem is that they have created so much fear on one side and resentment of the damage they are doing and the control they are imposing on us all on the other, that there is simply no longer any happy median to be found in between.

Later today we are expecting Boris to announce that the Lockdown will be reduced in some ways, but probably not in any way as drastically as many of us had hoped.

But if the messaging Boris is now going to try and use to juggle the thoughts and actions of the disaffected vs those he has successfully manipulated and psychologically abused with replacement slogans like those that have appeared in the media today (pictured), you can be sure that this Government really is no longer in control of anything that is happening now, nor what happens next – that is of course if they ever actually were.
