Boris and Co are desperate to look and sound good because they are failing and doing badly all round.
If their lack of economic understanding wasn’t illustrated well enough by the chaos and damage they have unleashed with a Lockdown that was completely unnecessary, they are now aiming to compound their stupidity by legitimising a planning free-for-all.
Like all the mistakes they have made in the mistaken belief that it is the continual flow of money that counts, the idea that building infrastructure and houses is the key to economic security for a Country is quite simply one for the birds.
The housing crisis myth has for many years been an excuse for Interests Rates to remain artificially low to keep borrowing super cheap whilst the value of property keeps on reaching for the sky. If the problem was a lack of housing for any local area, why is it the prices never decrease when new developments have been built and released?
The Keynesian Economic Theory that Boris and his chums are cosying up to was only ever that. A theory. An idea. A dream from the head of a very clever man who was able to elucidate what he thought. It is nothing more than a happy coincidence that at some points when it has been used as a guide, the plans it has led have appeared to work.
The travesty of unleashing yet another monster into the world of planning and development is a massive kick in the face of localism and even the remotest suggestion that the will of local people counts. Coming immediately after the Lockdown and social distancing before it, these hair-brained, damn-the-consequences approaches to dealing with a national crisis and the aftershocks that the Government itself created, are akin to pulling the pin on a grenade that will create irreparable damage once it has been tossed and gone off.
Besides the usual process of lining the pockets of those who don’t need anything whilst digging every last penny from the credit cards of those who do, this planning free-for-all will give unscrupulous developers the green light to change the British landscape and wreck our Countryside for good – not so everyone has a house they can afford, or everyone is able to work or run a business as the lie being sold to us tells us it will, but so the profits of developers and mortgage lenders can go stratospheric and eclipse everything that they have earned before.
The stupidity and lack of understanding on the part of Boris, his Government and all our politicians is simply astounding. Yet even now they still retain the capacity to surprise, simply because there is no way to remove these clowns and the people who keep getting elected in the queue who are of the very same kind.
This step is not one that will help the British People, British Businesses or the British Economy. It is a deliberate, avoidable curse that will destroy quality of life whilst hurting all the same people who have their lives repeatedly turned upside down by politicians who neither understand nor care, whilst all their chums line their pockets at the cost of others who have been condemned to the servitude of debt, and the establishment media perpetrates the myth that affordable housing is being built, jobs are being created and for everyone it is a win-win.
