Being on benefits isn’t a culture; for many, it’s a living hell. In the UK, those who rely on state support are often scapegoated and blamed for wider societal issues. The reality is that living on benefits or even the Minimum Wage means facing daily financial and emotional challenges. Many claimants would prefer to pay their own way, but the current system makes independence nearly impossible without additional help. Welfare cuts and a dehumanising benefits system only add to the struggle, leaving people feeling vulnerable and trapped. Few choose this path willingly – most simply want the chance to live and work independently, if only the system allowed it.
