Give way to May today; give away the UK

December 12, 2018 Leave a comment

Following on from my earlier Blog today, there are now reports circulating that May will promise to stand down before the next General Election – with the inference that the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement will go her way.

This plan sounds great for those who think the whole issue is about May.

It isn’t.

It’s about delivering Brexit, and Brexit will not be delivered if whatever we end up with is delivered by May.

The chances of the next General Election being over three years away are deceasing all the time.

The likelihood is that a General Election will be called in 2019 as a response to a question of confidence after May’s Brexit Withdrawal Agreement falls – if the Conservatives are bought off today by the ridiculous idea that May promising to stand down will actually remove the problem with her ‘deal’ in any meaningful way.

Her departure then at that point, would leave a new Conservative Leader dangerously exposed and with no time to develop and implement a new strategy before a Campaign begins.

Put simply, in this chain of events, May is setting up her successor to fail.

However, the very chilling reality is that with the endorsement of the Parliamentary Conservative Party today, given on these terms, May’s idea of Brexit is increasingly likely to be approved.

With UK sovereignty and independence, along with our ability to remove ourselves from this ridiculous plan treacherously given away, the Conservative Party as we know it will be at an end. When the Country wakes up to what our Politicians have done, as they inevitably will, we will have no choice but to abrogate our Membership of the EU unilaterally, potentially under very unfriendly, if not violent terms.

All this, just so Theresa May can go to bed at night feeling like she was right all along because she got her own way.

Please wake up.

Keeping May in power today will soon prove itself the much harder result for the Prime Minister, The Conservative Party and the Country itself

That anyone in Westminster could have really felt surprised that the magic 48 was reached yesterday is actually the surprise itself.

After days and weeks of bluster about May’s welched Brexit deal being the only one available, the Prime Minister pulls the whole thing with just a few hours to spare, heads off to get a steer from Europe and whilst she’s on the plane, her Euro-chums come out to help her by making clear that there will be absolutely nothing more forthcoming.

Talk is very cheap, as the Prime Minister of 29 months quickly found out. But when you are playing a game that will result in the sovereignty of an entire Nation being needlessly flushed away in perpetuity, just because of some suicidal vanity project, anyone with a sense of any logic and reason must conclude that this is one dog that has definitely had its day.

Being out of the EU will be far better for the people and businesses of this Country.

We will soon resume our place in the world with confidence, once we have departed from the constrictions of this Foreign Power that employs a modus operandi that has always been based on doing the UK down.

That we have had so many Prime Ministers who on assuming Office have been slave to the idea that they could win against the power of the EU by being within it says much about the ignorance and lack of understanding that exists within our political culture.

Without exception, even Margaret Thatcher had a rude awakening to the cold, hard truth that the EU is an out-of-control entity that is on a continual power grab.

Each and every time it is successful, it simply moves the goalposts as it ties every Member State into surrendering more, usually on behalf of its unknowing people.

Theresa May has just played straight into their hands.

Instead of responding impartially to the Instruction of the British People, the Prime Minster has either deliberately or through sheer incompetence created a situation where even democratically elected MP’s are so fearful of what the mess she has made is now creating and will become, that they are seriously contemplating giving up the UK’s ability to be independent to a Foreign Power – and along with a whole lot more besides.

May knows that there is no strength in her position. And by standing at the lectern outside No.10 this morning and stating that the only step that a new PM could take would be to beg for an extension of Article 50, or just rescind the whole Brexit process in full, she has given the lie to the suggestion that her trip around Europe to see other Leaders would have yielded anything meaningful before she returns her Brexit Withdrawal Agreement to the mercy of this rabbit-trapped-in-the-headlights-Commons once more.

All credibility in No.10 has now left the building. What Conservatve MP’s will commit the whole Country to later today, if they fail to accept the invitation to remover her, will be a world of pain which is of their own making.

There are a number of ways that keeping May in power could unfold.

Firstly, there remains a serious risk that if May wins the Confidence Vote, she will string the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement issue out, until fear itself is used to push through the result that would then keep her in No.10.

Make no mistake, in these circumstances the EU would be very happy about everything they are about to be gifted by the unwitting, unled UK. For them May’s success will be a year of Christmases despite everything we are being publicly told. And be under no illusion about the risk of this happening, as the terror of the misnamed ‘no deal Brexit’ plays heavily upon the emotions of the unobjective Members in Parliament and too many of them see safety and a misplaced trust in the mythical changelessness of Remain.

There will be no glory for this option for the Conservatives who went with the current PM. You can rest assured that the poison of this treachery made manifest by May would very quickly rub off on many more of the Parliamentary Party with any chance of Conservatives forming a future majority government very quickly evaporating away.

As I write, the more likely result of May’s surety in Office is that the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement, now lacking all credibility and there clearly being no scope to change it in any meaningful way, will fall when it finally comes to a vote.

At that point, just a few days or weeks into the new Year, we will then – at the cost of the Corbyn-led Labour Government that will surely follow, then and only then see the end of Theresa May.

Yes, May might resign following a success in a Confidence Vote, before being forced to go to the Country. But on the basis of her track record alone, if she will not resign right now today and make way, faced with a General Election in 2019, she will almost certainly do the same.

The Conservative Party will not win power again under the leadership of the current Prime Minister.

The benefit of bringing her term in No.10 to its conclusion today is that there will at least be time to prepare and publicise a new and much improved narrative before what now increasingly looks like a General Election one way or the other in 2019 is called and the campaign gets under way.

Wouldn’t it be better to have a chance of winning when it does?

Update – 1.21pm:

Shortly after first publishing this Blog today, news has began to come out that Theresa May is to announce that she will stand down before the next General Election. All I can add to this is that her deal is already dead and by continuing her Premiership, the promise of standing down before a General Election would only be likely to set up another leader to lose, whilst almost guaranteeing May’s giveaway of the UK. There is a growing chance that there will be a General Election in 2019 and the issue today is whether the Tories will approach it in a controlled way, or give in to the ‘easy’ alternative which will be more chaos, with the only beneficiary being Theresa May.

Meglamaniac May ignores her Remainer-in-Chiefs; the Cabinet wont act because they all want to be PM and all who could stop this madness are prepared to leave her fate to a Parliamentary Vote – irrespective of what new hell this chain of irresponsibility will unleash

May Halo 2

We all love a parliamentary parody, but not when it has actually become real life and instead of seeing a script acted out, we are witnessing the daily evolution of the real thing.

Make no mistake. The story we are now seeing unfolding bears no similarity to what the principle of democracy and the will of the people was ever supposed to be about.

The lunatics have taken over the asylum and the impact of everything that they are now doing is not going to be without significant cost to us all, in the many ways that the Brexit charade delivers its range of consequences and fall-out.

We see a full Cabinet of Ministers propagating the myths of the current Prime Ministers making, just so they can keep their hand in when it comes to the ‘expected’ pool of choices when the potentially imminent Conservative Leadership Contest begins.

We see Remainers so hell-bent on overturning the decision of the People which they took so personally, that they now have to prove that the majority of the British People were wrong. They are prepared to destroy democracy by pushing for a second Vote, when through the actions of their own camp, the Country has not even delivered upon the first.

We see Brexiteers still so fixated on their own idea of what Brexit should look like, that they have themselves forgotten what it was that the British People have voted for. They are overlooking the strength in numbers that comes from recognising and working on the democratic principle of commonality. By doing so, they have surrendered their own strength to the misunderstanding and mistrust that Remain continue to sew, which Brexiteer unity would quickly push aside.

An at the top of the tree, we have a Remain-obsessed Prime Minister who has become so fixated with the belief in her own hype, that she is now even ignoring the advice of her own Remain-obsessed Civil Servants. She is prepared to withhold Legal Advice to Parliament so that she can single-handedly ensure that her closer union with Europe, sold as Brexit can be coercively pushed through Parliament and British Democracy not just now, but for ever then be denied.

What should perhaps be most worrying, is that most of the MP’s in Westminster know that we are riding the cusp of a constitutional wave which has the potential to deliver changes for the UK which in any form they now come will be very sinister.

The status quo has now been cracked right down the middle and even staying exactly where we are would not resemble anything like the 22nd of June 2016 – in terms of what some still see as an option labelled ‘Remain’.

This obsession with being seen to keep ones hands clean or simply to save ones job means that inaction is continuing to rule the day.

Like the many Theresa May related events which have materialised before, Conservatives with the ability to precipitate change are waiting to see what happens.

They are ignoring the fact that they are going around in circles and are likely to find themselves giving May yet another chance just as soon as she steps out of the Voting Lobby next Tuesday after the ‘first vote’ hits the floor, puts out the begging bowl and blithely asks them ‘Please MP’s, can I have some more?’

Labour don’t come out of this any better. And their obsession with getting into Government at any cost, aided by the inaction of the Conservatives on both front and back benches may very soon come to pass.

By taking the easy option and waiting for the ‘meaningful vote’ to take place on December 11th, all of our MP’s are setting themselves up for a very difficult and possibly monumental task.

Whether Theresa May decides to go back to the Country, the Remainers push for another Referendum which puts democracy firmly in the past, the Government falls and with the DUP ‘walking the floor’, or Jeremy Corbyn and a rainbow coalition walk right in to No.10 before Christmas, it is clear that Parliament now has no discernable power or direction, nor the ability to make any decisions which have legitimate longevity and as such the surety to even last.

This free-for-all of ‘my idea is best’ and ‘I will do whatever I can to make everyone else wrong’ is actually beyond parody. In fact, it is becoming a real-life tragedy.

Whilst MP’s have been doing shocking things for a very long time, the transparency that the Internet and age of Social Media has brought means that their idea of what responsibility looks like is already having a far-reaching impact.

It is now action and not more words the People are looking for before there is even the chance that some faith in our Parliamentary system could even begin to be restored.

If MP’s seriously want to regain their credibility, they must do whatever necessary to stop the Theresa May show right now.

The best thing for us all will be an immediate change in Conservative Leadership, to someone who is not self-obsessed with the idea that getting into No.10 is all being in politics has ever been about.

Someone who can look all the Remain hyperbole in the eye, face it and the ever-controlling EU down and then push through a process to Leave which works for all of us, guarantees the UK its Sovereignty and freedom, and outs the ridiculous idea that anything even remotely Remainish is going to be of genuine benefit to anyone or any home-based business in the UK.

UK security is best served kept in our own hands. The EU would only increase risk to itself by burning the bridges between us when they benefit disproportionately from what we already give

November 29, 2018 Leave a comment

To hear Theresa May and her coterie of die-hard Remainist Ministers speak, you would think that the UK is backward in just about every respect and incapable of making its way in the World without the stewardship and direction of a load of unelected bureaucrats shouting demands at us from an office across the English Channel and somewhere in the EU.

With the history we have – some of which will still be within the living memory of the Politicians who surround her – it is as amazing as it is sickening that people elected to the highest positions of power in the UK, could have not only adopted, but are hell bent on convincing everyone else of the validity of this view.

Yet this is where we are, and for as long as people who can only prioritise themselves are able to influence our destiny as a Nation, there remains a risk that they will take the UK and our people to places that we never belonged.

Security is once again a multifaceted and complex issue relating to Brexit which many of us do not understand.

In reality, we should never need to do so as we should be able to trust our decision makers to have a complete and objective view of everything which has happened, is happening and of course, that which either wont be or simply hasn’t yet come into view.

Regrettably they don’t.

This means that we are yet again being sold a story of our place in the World which is thoroughly demeaning. One that is only ever intended to convince us wrongly, that the UK risks finding itself out in the cold and that we have a dependence on the EU which has never ever had any reason to exist.

Defence & The Armed Forces

The EU now has very ambitious and documented designs on developing a Euro-Army of its own. A clear sign that the plan for a United States of Europe is clearly manifesting itself and one which makes clear that it would be foolish to believe that the phyrric freedoms that Theresa May is trying to tell us she has won, would continue to exist for very long.

Militarily, the World is an increasingly dangerous place. The Russians are already testing borders around Eastern Europe itself, but are also parked on our doorstep, even testing the airspace which is above the UK itself.

Meanwhile the USA and China are on a competitive journey both in trade and in places like the South China Sea which in less than a decade could escalate to a level which leaves military action the only way it can be resolved.

With the seemingly limitless level of chutzpa that the EU leadership already employs, it is clear that their own ambition for power and control and to be seen as a de facto world player will soon get them into significant trouble if they are ceded power over so much military power.

If we were to be tied in on the Terms of any form of Remain or May’s Brexit Withdrawal Agreement, it is almost certain that we would be dragged in and inevitably involved in anything that the unelected bureaucrats with power over 28 different Countries decide that they we and other Member States would be required to do.

The only way that we can guarantee complete control over the use of our Armed Forces and the choice over what future wars we may or may not wish to become involved with is to Leave the EU without an unnecessary and avoidable deal. We must take back control of everything with the first step being the reestablishment of trade with everyone – i.e. Leaving on WTO Terms.

Intelligence

On the gathering and use of security intelligence, Theresa May and her Remain-bent supporters are selling the UK very short too.

We have one of the best security and intelligence services in the World. We were at the forefront of intelligence service development and many Countries – not least of all the USA – have developed their own abilities based on the ground breaking and innovative work that we have done historically here in the UK.

There is and has never been any need for the UK to operate in any way other than alone.

We have always shared data with our allies and we survived very well indeed before the EU and its fearful disciples came along.

It is ridiculous to believe that we can improve the security of the UK by removing borders and harmonising everything that we do and have with foreign powers.

Those Remainers who read this and suggest that simply remaining would have meant that everything would stay the same as it is now are being either ignorant or disingenuous at best.

The evolution of the EU is and has only ever been one way. That is the centralisation of power of all kinds in Brussels and the removal of localised – ergo Nationally identifiable structures which could be used to initiate a democratic claw back by Nation States or in any other way get in their way.

Remember that it is not we the UK who are threatening to withdraw cooperation with the EU once we have finally rescinded our Membership.

It is the EU that is creating the problems.

It is the EU’s desire for overall control which is overriding the continuing benefits of working together sensibly.

It is the EU that has so much more to loose.

Cyber Security

Whilst the topic still remains without great attention from the media, it is the area of cyber security where the benefits of our continuing to work alone and without the dilution of other misleading interests that tell us the UK must continue to steer its ship and be happy standing out in the World alone.

We face threats of a technological kind, leveled at us from World players who in conventional military terms are not even on the risk list. Yet in terms of their current and developing abilities to access and potentially disrupt vital infrastructure at the touch of a button, they may already have the power to affect this and other Western Countries in ways which could only be more severe if we were to experience the fallout of a full scale nuclear war.

Joking aside, countering such threats is not something to be all communal about and leave to people who have no interest in the people and businesses of the UK.

We simply cannot trust the EU to protect us from the threats that we are already working against in the UK and have been for a considerably long time.

Terrorism

Terrorism is the final thing that we hear scare stories about that are used as a basis for our Independence to be denied. Yet returning our own borders is a much safer option for us to ensure that both malevolent would-be terrorists, foreign actors and arms shipments will be continually denied and not made more likely by the mission creep of the EU to abolish any form of meaningful self-government, its policy and rule.

Yes, we must continue to collaborate with our friends wherever possible. But giving them control over our future security is foolishness in the extreme. We must take back all power that has already been granted to foreign powers and share whatever we can when it is possible, whilst accepting that it will always be best to keep security as a key policy for our own Government to determine and decide.
