Any compromise over Brexit that actively involves all sides has to be taken seriously and the real obstacle to progress is now firmly located in No.10

img_2513Brexit has been mismanaged from the start. Much of the problem has been the many competing priorities and motivations belonging to the key influencers who have been involved, but this itself is in no small part due to the biggest Brexit problem of them all. The absence of good, decisive and responsible leadership.

The Brexit process over recent months could have gone in different directions at many different points and it is regrettable that there has been a distinct absence of vision and understanding on the benches of the Commons. Vision which could have seen that a deal, formula, pathway or whatever you want to call it has never been just about an agreement itself, but about the people involved, the chronology of events, the changing landscape and yes, a whole lot more besides.

We are where we are. So no matter what has come before, there is no sensible option beyond trying to play with the hand that is available.

So when a compromise arrives in a form which could work for our MPs and our Country too, the focus should be shifting to identify and remove the blocks to realising that opportunity for progress. Not dwelling on who has ownership, who claims the legacy, who will be upset or anything more.

The reality is that the very best ‘deal’ that would be available to the UK could only be negotiated from the position and mindset of already being out of the EU.

With the obsession over plans and having to have a strategy in place which our MPs have, it is clear that the current Parliament will not willingly support this pathway.

As such, it is vital for MPs to accept the closest thing to that which they find acceptable.

From the information now available, it looks very much like the Malthouse Compromise could be the opportunity that everyone – and not least all of us outside of Westminster have been waiting for.

This Plan is far from perfect for either side. I say this with a firm belief that in the right hands from the start of this process, Brexit could immediately upon Leaving in March have promised the UK a massive amount more.

Because of what has happened during the Brexit process, the decision and therefore the method of our departure has become about so much more than just Brexit itself.

From this point alone, the Malthouse Compromise has to be seen as potentially the least trouble-free pathway to getting out of the EU, on time, with the prospect of building a working relationship with our former partners and in a way which at the very least honours the spirit of the Referendum Vote, even if at this stage it would be impractical to expect any more.

As a lapsed, but nonetheless lifelong conservative, it gives me no pleasure to feel or openly be so very critical of a Conservative PM.

But the situation we are facing over Brexit and beyond is so very, very serious, there must be a collective acceptance that with May at the helm, compromise penned by anyone other than her and her coterie of advisers, is not in her plan. It is not in her mind an acceptable form of what this Brexit process will become.

Never mind the missed opportunities and the what could haves, what should haves and everything that has gone before and been done. The way to get this problem solved is to remove the obstacle of a spent force as a Prime Minister to whom owning the legacy of a Brexit deal is all that her premiership has now become.

The Conservative Party has the ability to remove her right now if there is collective recognition amongst the Parliamentary Party of how dire this situation has become.

Personal ambition must be put to one side so that a leader can be Elected and installed in No.10, who will embrace the catalyst for change over Brexit. A new Prime Minister who can set off the reaction and chain of events now needed here within our own Parliament.

And then take it to Brussels not as a question, but as a statement of intent and overview of what our departure from the EU will look like.

Something that the EU can choose to embrace or reject. But with the consequences made very clear that failing to engage with what is on offer to them will leave the EU responsible for what follows, and that it is our commitment to prosper and be a friend to all Nations who are friendly to us, no matter what they think or then do.

MPs: Trust this Prime Minister at the UK’s peril

Watching this all-too-predictable-for-anyone-other-than-the-MPs-within-this-Brexit-story as it continues to play itself out has been and remains very painful, especially for those of us who believe in democracy and the purpose that it serves.

Even with the abundance of opinionated commentary coming from sources where facts for those able to think critically are contained available to all MPs, this Parliament teeters in the edge of a multidimensional precipice where the odds are stacked for an unknown and frankly unknowable outcome. Yet even now, the majority of these political stool pigeons think they are going to walk away with BRINO – or what to those they see as the uneducated masses outside of Westminster is still very much Remain.

After a process that has provided Conservative MPs with red flag after red flag, making very clear its destination and outcome, it is amazing that the Politicians sat in the middle of all this cannot or will not read the direction of travel of Theresa May’s efforts, and  what this process of hers will ultimately become, once the point has been reached that Parliament buys into them.

Right now there is so much noise about different plans for Brexit – most of which are clinical forms of Remain – that the elephant in the room, or that which should have already been dead in the form of May’s ‘deal’, is doing a full on lasers act. Suddenly, with the nebulous and unquantifiable promise of a rethink over the mythical Backstop of what looks very much like history will prove to be of her own design, The May deal looks increasingly like it might actually be what the outcome of the Brexit process becomes.

However, the celebrations are likely to be very premature.

At a stage where our fearful MPs are looking for any way to avoid the form of Brexit that the People actually voted for, even the so-called Brexiteers are hinting that they may back this travesty, trusting this untrustworthy Prime Minister to do the right thing with an ambiguous policy, relating to a non-existent deal with the EU which is likely to do nothing more than moving her considerably closer to the point where she has been gifted the final say.

All this at the end of the very same pathway which has already been overwhelmingly rejected, but with Parliament effectively now on the verge of giving the PM a blank sheet by removing itself from the ability to stop her anymore, and at a time when the government should be looking to select and implement new leadership, rather than take yet more quantum leaps back.

That there is so little recognition of and willingness within our Elected Parliament to deliver that which the People voted for in its clear and accurate form should be of great concern to us all.

That a sizeable majority are only being prevented from delivering their own form of a non-Brexit by their inability to coalesce and work to together collectively should give us all pause for thought in a very different form.

But that MPs could as a majority be about to give free reign to an incompetent and sell-out Prime Minister who sees our being tied to Europe as the only legacy her premiership was created to deliver, should be now concerning us all. Perhaps even terrifying us all a whole lot more.

Whatever happens from this point after the next ‘meaningful vote’ tomorrow, we as a Country are destined to be in a mess. That much has been guaranteed by the behaviour of this and the last Parliament as they have ignored what the purpose of the European Referendum was actually for.

There is only one form of Brexit that will deliver upon what the British People voted for.

Whilst we may have a bumpy ride for a few months immediately from the time we Leave, anything other than Leaving the EU on the 29th March, cleanly, on time and without the deal which was never essential to actually leave, it will be the start of significant problems, simply because MPs will have overturned or sought to defer or redirect a Public decision, and have therefore gone very wrong

Leaving the detail to May in the hope that a genuine Brexit will be the ultimate outcome will be an irreversible travesty, the outcome of which will become manifest very very quickly indeed.

If Conservatives want to deliver the Brexit People Voted for, today is the time to have the confidence to vote No Confidence in all Theresa May has led this Tory Government to become

January 16, 2019 Leave a comment

Counterintuitive as it may seem, the defeat of May’s Brexit Withdrawal Agreement last night, immediately followed by Jeremy Corbyn picking up the gauntlet that the Prime Minister had thrown to call a No Confidence Vote, has given the Conservative Party a lifeline and the opportunity to take control of the whole Brexit process that it needs.

No, we do not want and definitely do not need a Corbyn Government.

But we do need Theresa May to find some dignity from some where and accept that she is not the Prime Minister that this Country needs as it now stares at an evolving crisis.

The prefect storm which surrounds the greatest Government Defeat in recorded history, is the only reason that we this morning still have a Prime Minister May.

It was encapsulated perfectly well this morning when a friend asked me the very simple question ‘Why doesn’t the Conservative Party intervene?’

My response was as polite and honest as I could make it; ‘The people who have the power to do something all want May’s job and want a trouble-free run at it too’.

And it is within these circumstances; what is increasingly likely to become a National crisis, that we can see so very clearly that it was all so very avoidable, but self-interest, self-righteousness and blind ambition on the part of an out-of-touch political class bears all responsibility for the chaos over Leaving the EU that it has made.

The biggest problem is that the Politicians responsible are so blinded by their arrogance, they have no idea what to do with the child they have given birth to.

So instead they blithely press on as if they are incapable of doing wrong. As if they have no responsibility to anything other than keeping their jobs.

And amongst these non-representatives of the people, the worst of them all and most out of touch is Theresa May.

After the humiliation of the Defeat that she and the plan with which she is so personally entwined last night, a real stateswoman would have immediately resigned. Instead we see a powerless leader, so certain of her own right to govern that she is literally prepared to destroy her own Political Party, and worse, the future of a whole Country, simply on the basis of her believing that only she can be the PM to deliver something out of Brexit ‘come what May’.

The trouble is that something doesn’t look anything like the Brexit that the People actually Voted for. And by refusing to make way for someone capable of grabbing the wheel, she is going to drive the whole Brexit Bus over the cliff with us all in it, when the route was unnecessary and only a problem that she herself made.

Yet we are in a position where the problem could be resolved quickly, if the Conservatives were to come together, respect that the Vote of the People meant Leaving without what Remain have clumsily referred to as a ‘deal’, and accept that the first step to turning this whole mess on its head is to part company with Theresa May.

If the Conservatives back Jeremy Corbyn’s No Confidence Vote later today, there is a golden opportunity to reverse all of this quandary and ensure that the British People do get Brexit AND one in which WE ALL WIN.

Once Theresa May has been put in the position where she can be forced to resign AND the Cabinet collectively accept that the race for a new Prime Minister is not one that they all are equipped for or able to win, a new Conservative Government can be immediately be formed. YES, with nothing more than a swift and timely crowing, but with the purpose of doing what is strategically necessary so that the Country is once again capable of facing up to the EU AND achieving the People’s Win.

No, it won’t be easy. But by taking the time to look beyond what stares back at them from the mirror each morning, this may be the last opportunity to voluntarily embrace the true responsibilities of being an MP, come together, deliver a real and meaningful Brexit and consign any chance of a Marxist government gaining power and wrecking everything the UK has to the bin.

Please MPs, for once have faith in the decision of the People, in opportunity and the future that your being selfless with responsibility most assuredly will allow us ALL to have.

May must go

January 15, 2019 Leave a comment

A 230 Vote Majority against May’s Brexit Deal this evening from 432 Votes to 202.

May has no credibility and must resign.

If she doesn’t stand aside and facilitate the appointment of a new Conservative Leader as quickly as it is possible to do so, it may quickly become inevitable that a Labour Government led by Jeremy Corbyn will follow.

The EU are already tonight ruling out a renegotiation of May’s Now defeated Withdrawal Agreement.

It’s time for a leader capable of tackling these bureaucrats with greater levels of confidence and certainty than they could ever muster, along with the will and determination to see the proper withdrawal of the UK from the EU right the way through.

Do not mistake the bloody-mindedness of a committed leader to the pig-headedness of a prime minister in name only with no cognizance of what they are doing wrong

January 15, 2019 Leave a comment

There is no control over the direction that this Parliament will now take us. There is no collective cause. The purpose and direction of self-interest made manifest through our political classes has now come into its own.

Under such a smog-ridden screen where everything democratic is choking on the stench of this party-political miasma, it really is little wonder that our lame duck Prime Minister has been able to continue, when at other times any leader who has failed to lead so catastrophically, would have in their reality been long since gone.

Whilst many of the media outlets are speculating upon the size of this evening’s defeat, the fact that Theresa May’s position thereafter will be defined by the size and not the outcome is itself pretty much unique.

The Conservative Party is in its death throws. At best split down the middle. In need of some shining knight in armour, who can and is willing to hop off their own horse, kneel down on the floor and perform some breathtaking form of CPR.

The long list of pretenders has now become very real. From the sublime, to the ridiculous and the downright bizarre.

But if for any reason after tonight the idea of an imminent General Election should begin to gain traction, there is only one name in within the Conservative Parliamentary Party who can turn around the current direction of misfortune, connect with the British People and stop Corbyn from having any chance of taking his idealistic plan for a socialist Britain and making it manifest in a far more malevolent and dangerous form.

Be under no illusion that if Theresa may were to lead the Conservatives into a General Election Campaign, any 6-point lead that the Party is now celebrating would soon evaporate, and that the very best they could hope for in a result would be a coalition led by Corbyn. Chaos beyond anything even today that we could imagine, but Conservatives as leaders being ditched as the result.

It may make difficult and challenging reading. But there is only one potential candidate to replace Theresa May who has the ability to immediately connect with the Electorate. Is today publicly known. And has the position and ability to make something right come from this mess over Brexit. To deliver what the People Voted for whilst bringing all sides together and potentially lots more.

The watershed moment for the future of British Politics has arrived. Will our Politicians open up Pandora’s Box to pursue their moments of glory, or will it be the acceptance of truth and the implementation of democracy that will be how Brexit comes to be defined?

On Thursday 23rd June 2016, the British People, by a solid, democratic majority, Voted for the UK to Leave the EU.

There was no division of choices within the Leave option on the Ballot Paper.

No label on the Ballot Box that said it was in fact Pandora’s and that Leave could as such end up being Remain.

There was no get out of jail card provided for Remainers to trash democracy and arrive here today thinking that it is they who will have the last laugh.

img_2450But while our weak and rudderless Prime Minister has exploited the given trust of the People to deliver a non-deal which would deliver everything less than Brexit itself, it’s failure today and its being outed for the lie that it actually is has itself given the lie to everything that Politicians will now try to pass off as Brexit. That is other than Leaving without anything that resembles a deal – which otherwise will be at any level nothing less than capitulation to Brussels and Remain in all but name.

Politicians are dreaming up an entirely different reality if they think that Brexit is itself an opportunity to play out some kind of bizarre Spartacus moment.

My plan is Brexit! No – MY plan is Brexit! NO – MY PLAN IS BREXIT!

There is only one real Brexit and that’s Leaving through OUR OWN DOOR, the one that only we, on our own have the ability and genuine purpose to create.

Not one of the EU’s making. Not one in which we have agreed what is no better than a day pass. A reality in which we never really leave, function as a satellite thereof, but in reality FOREVER Remain within.

Whilst the ineptitude, incompetence and ignorance of our current Political masters will now make the immediate process unnecessarily tough, the only way to achieve Brexit properly is to Leave without a deal, on WTO terms and get on and embrace our future as one which is not and never will be in any way dependent upon approval from any EU Executive of Member.

We must accept the way forward is where we will find our future, not backwards. We are and will soon value ourselves as a great Independent Nation and can deal with whatever we need to, alone and with friends who are not determined to undermine us, come what may.

Our Parliament has a majority of modern-day quislings as MPs and they are about to engineer the biggest betrayal of them all

January 14, 2019 Leave a comment

img_2445As expected weeks and months ago, based on what has now become this Government’s oh-so-reliable behaviour patterns and pretty much guaranteed form, we today see Theresa May’s scare-game entering what some of us do hope will be its final death throws, but alas, probably just another stage before we see even more.

Back in the Autumn, there were many of us out here in the real world who still hoped that there were enough MPs left in this Parliament actually prepared to put duty the People above self-interest. Not just tell us that is what they will do.

Yet on the Eve of what may in time turn out to be one of the greatest Parliamentary decisions which has an impact right across the British way of life, it appears that the a baseline of doing what is actually right on behalf of the whole Electorate is now a quality and driver which is absent within the make-up of our MPs, save for what is clearly a remarkably small number and perhaps no more than just a few.

Perhaps the most frightening fact about all of the Machiavellian behaviour, manipulation and the flurry of ideas which are repeatedly being sold as the reinvention of the wheel – in so far as a ‘Brexit deal’ is concerned, is the reality that all this rubbish is having the effect of making Theresa May’s claim to have negotiated what the British People Voted for, look almost credible in a way which it would never do so, if such comparisons had never been born.

Yes, we should take very seriously the prospect that there is a strategy at work behind all of this. Because being bullied by fear as we were in the run up to the Referendum has been seriously overused by the Establishment and this Government, and it has required them to develop their web of deceit in order to make what is in effect one giant lie look highly plausible when compared to what appear to be all other forms.

What none of us should take seriously is the idea, suggestion or otherwise, that leaving the EU without ‘a deal’ is anything less than what the British People actually voted for. And that furthermore, that it will disadvantage the UK in anything other than the short and therefore immediate term – IF people should be put in charge who actually believe in the UK and what real opportunity is there to be used for.

Be under no illusion.

Theresa May’s ‘deal’ was, is not and never will be the Brexit that the British People Voted for.

This is a deal which if passed tomorrow or even in a few days or few weeks time will simply tie us back into a relationship which will always be one sided in terms of benefits to the EU. It is not ‘leaving’.

It is Brexit in name only with not even a meaningful tweak added since the point when anyone with any common sense realised that under May’s leadership, Brexit was never going to be the end result, no matter what she says or predicts as being yet to come.

But the ‘solutions’ put on offer by others, the ‘would be kings & queens’, such as Norway, Canada +++, Switzerland, the inappropriately named ‘People’s Vote’ or even a forced General Election offer nothing better in themselves. They do not even offer a direction of travel towards the position of UK Independence of the EU, whish is what the majority of British People instructed and therefore compelled our Parliament and successive Governments to deliver as the end result. To do whatever necessary to ensure that is what the UK becomes.

The relationship that these sell-out MPs and the Establishment has with the EU would perhaps be best viewed as one they would have as drunks with a pub landlord. One where the first sip of the drink tasted undeniably good, but then the damage being done took place without conscious intervention, both at the time they knew they were drinking and over the longer term when they didn’t realise they were.

The drinkers were blasé about the real impact as they got high in an unreal world that they were all the time paying for, whilst that landlord kept on supplying them with more.

The sensible drinker in such a pub would hear the inner voice when it says ‘it’s time to leave’, ‘let’s get away from here and go home’, ‘we need to get sober’, ‘we don’t need anymore’; leave promptly and behind them close the door.

But the Remainers instead stood up at the bar and demanded a deal to leave, something that the landlord was only too happy to oblige with, knowing well that as drunks the Remainers would voluntarily and willingly subjugate themselves, just so they could come back, get shitfaced all over again and then place themselves in a situation where they would just give away even more.

No, not many people see the truth in any of this. But that is why we use metaphors and especially so when we are far too close to reality to understand what’s going on around us, at a critical moment in our history when knowing the truth about what these so-called representatives of the people are actually doing on their own behalf is vital, because they are telling us and letting many of us believe that its for us all.

There is nothing beneficial for the UK or our People taking place in this Parliament.

The majority of our MPs are sold out either directly to the EU or indirectly via misplaced loyalty to the people who are leading them – and therefore all of us, over a very steep edge.

Whether deliberate or by accident, they are all modern-day quislings. They are aiding a foreign power in the guise of the EU to take control over us all, step-by-step, lie-by-lie, rule-by-rule. And they are content to do so as they believe that their roles in Parliament will continue to be assured, knowing that they are selling out their own People and over 300 years of Democracy in order to facilitate any policy that will allow them to do so.

Anything other than leaving the EU without a foolish and unnecessary ‘deal’ – no matter what steps are now taken to bring it about – will be a complete betrayal of the British People.

It is not what we the British People Voted for.

And from any Elected Representative, we have the right to expect a whole lot more.
