The watershed moment for the future of British Politics has arrived. Will our Politicians open up Pandora’s Box to pursue their moments of glory, or will it be the acceptance of truth and the implementation of democracy that will be how Brexit comes to be defined?

On Thursday 23rd June 2016, the British People, by a solid, democratic majority, Voted for the UK to Leave the EU.

There was no division of choices within the Leave option on the Ballot Paper.

No label on the Ballot Box that said it was in fact Pandora’s and that Leave could as such end up being Remain.

There was no get out of jail card provided for Remainers to trash democracy and arrive here today thinking that it is they who will have the last laugh.

img_2450But while our weak and rudderless Prime Minister has exploited the given trust of the People to deliver a non-deal which would deliver everything less than Brexit itself, it’s failure today and its being outed for the lie that it actually is has itself given the lie to everything that Politicians will now try to pass off as Brexit. That is other than Leaving without anything that resembles a deal – which otherwise will be at any level nothing less than capitulation to Brussels and Remain in all but name.

Politicians are dreaming up an entirely different reality if they think that Brexit is itself an opportunity to play out some kind of bizarre Spartacus moment.

My plan is Brexit! No – MY plan is Brexit! NO – MY PLAN IS BREXIT!

There is only one real Brexit and that’s Leaving through OUR OWN DOOR, the one that only we, on our own have the ability and genuine purpose to create.

Not one of the EU’s making. Not one in which we have agreed what is no better than a day pass. A reality in which we never really leave, function as a satellite thereof, but in reality FOREVER Remain within.

Whilst the ineptitude, incompetence and ignorance of our current Political masters will now make the immediate process unnecessarily tough, the only way to achieve Brexit properly is to Leave without a deal, on WTO terms and get on and embrace our future as one which is not and never will be in any way dependent upon approval from any EU Executive of Member.

We must accept the way forward is where we will find our future, not backwards. We are and will soon value ourselves as a great Independent Nation and can deal with whatever we need to, alone and with friends who are not determined to undermine us, come what may.

It’s time to have confidence in our own destiny and accept that in today’s World, standing alone will make the UK a whole lot more

‘We are doomed!’ is the current epitaph of the Remain-at-all-costs and all those amongst us who live by the belief that this Country cannot and is incapable of doing anything on its own.

The sell-out mentality which has gripped the direction of both the Media and the Government itself would be best placed in the archaic nest hole which would be the foredeck of some wrecked ship as it deceptively lifted into the air before crashing into the see and coming to rest in the dark, freezing depths way below. Not in the foreground of one of the greatest opportunities that the UK has stood in front of for past generations and beyond.

Many of the self-interested politicians and influencers who are so convinced of the need to remain in the comfort zone which they believe to be in their own image, mistakenly consider their own destiny to be entwined with that of the whole Country and the People who surround them, not realising that self belief of an entire Nation does not equate with their own gutlessness and is in fact the key to something much better for us all after we leave the EU and step bravely into the world of our making which will soon follow beyond.

‘Doing it properly’, by embracing a pathway even more rigorously than anyone has done so before, doesn’t mean that you can suddenly make the unworkable work.

It means that you are blind to what everything around you is telling you. That you are a fool and are setting yourself – and in this case a great many innocent people – up for a very big fall.

However, whilst that can be viewed as the inevitable further integration with the EU that will happen if the Remainers should ever get their way, or indeed the catastrophe which will follow Corbyn’s Labour in the form of a Marxist mess if they win a General Election against a Conservative Party that is still led by May, it does not fit with the evolving class of political opportunists who will align themselves with what resembles the best option to facilitate a rise in their own fortunes.

With the May ‘deal’ unattractive to even some of the most militant Remainers, it was inevitable that many other pretenders would push themselves into the leadership frame, championing some other cause or another painted up or repackaged idea, selling it as the new and improved or latest form of the same old Holy Grail which will ultimately deliver everything for them, but nothing for anyone else.

We have had Norway, Canada plus plus plus and even something about Switzerland from the quasi-Brexiteer brigade. Now we are having Singapore MK2 as the model posted by the born-again-Brexiteers who in the Summer of 2016 sounded almost identically like everything we heard from then new Prime Minister Theresa May.

If it sounds like we are going around in circles, it is because we are.

Nothing is going to change until we, as a Country, break new ground and literally stop going round and round.

Our future is not to remain inextricably linked with the ‘European Project’.

Nor is it to parrot ourselves or model our future on the past, present or future of any other Country.

Their destiny is theirs, just as our National destiny is very much our own.

The obsession with plans has to stop if we are ever to begin succeeding.

The future of the UK depends upon proper Leadership, not some dubious plan measured up against a PH Scale where Acid & Alkaline have been replaced with Leave & Remain.

Our political classes are simply out of any new ideas.

UK politics is without original thinking.

And so it is little wonder that our would-be leaders are raking around everywhere to find something new to anchor their dimming light to, whilst attempting to rally a new direction from the other politicians around them. Politicians who themselves are so self-obsessed, that they can no longer discern the benefits of being within and working for a community as the only surety for them comes from the reliance on ideas which are their own.

We are now perilously close to a point where we will need an entirely new parliament. One untainted by the corruption and self interest of the existing party political system and the obsession with benefit and kudos to the individual, disregarding members responsibility to the electorate who elevated them to their positions. A responsibility they now take for granted and believe that they possess and therefore own.

‘We can be the new Singapore’, ‘be just like Sweden’, or ‘model ourselves as perfect Europeans’.

How about actually just being happy with being British. Having confidence in our own destiny and accepting the truth that in today’s World, standing alone will make the UK a whole lot more?

If the outcome the People Voted for is to be delivered through Brexit, the UK must actually step off before it can touch down

The infamous scene from the Film Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade where Jones (Harrison Ford) steps off in a leap of faith and finds footing on a bridge that had not appeared to be there

‘What could possibly happen next?’ is a phrase which is now used by Politicians as an indirect threat and way to create fear, rather than respecting and stepping up to the responsibilities which most of them covet, but would never understand even if they were theirs to own.

The complete shit shower, clusterfuck or whatever else you might feel the most appropriate way to describe the Brexit process, particularly in recent weeks is a complete mess that was avoidable from the outset, and must therefore in many ways be recognised as being there by choice.

Whether proactive, reactive, strategic or emotionally based, every decision on the part of the Politicians who have brought us to this point has not been based on delivering a proper Brexit as the outcome. To do so would have necessitated that every tie-in with the EU was broken BEFORE a relationship based on the UK being sovereign and independent could be discussed, implemented and yes, remade.

As I have written before, the problem with the plan for Brexit, is that Brexit has become all about having a plan.

Even now, as ‘contingency’ planning has been announced for the ‘no-deal Brexit’, the Political piggies, feasting at their Westminster trough are still enslaved to the idea that there can be no way forward without there being an agreed plan. And they advocate this, even though it has now been clear for a significant period of time that this same self-interest dictates that one will not be found which a majority will agree upon.

Until this past 7 days, there appeared to still be a group in Parliament that was ready and able to break this mould. But now even those who have until now been the advocates of a clean, proper, no-deal or WTO Brexit, have demonstrated that even they believe it is not possible to take the UK forward into new and unchartered territory without having some kind of plan.

Whilst fear drives everything in this world in some form or to a certain degree, we have the right to expect that the Politicians we have elected possess the leadership skills and wherewithal to look their own fears in the eye and step forward, knowing that they are representatives of the people, and that the challenges they must face are on behalf of others and therefore a much bigger cause.

Yet they don’t. And now racked with fear or the obsession of keeping what they believe to be control, even the Brexiteer contingent of the Conservative Party is obsessed with clinging to this out of control wreckage, from which the UK must now positively step away from, before it can find its footing and again touch down.

Call it a leap of faith or whatever you might like.

Opportunity by its vary nature is unpredictable.

Even when you can plan, those plans will only ever take you so far.

And when you have many decision makers in the mix who all advocate a different direction which without fail they will insist is the best, it is time to forget planning and deal with each and every thing as it comes along.

Yes, there are many who say ‘you have to have a plan when you are in government’. This is a myth and one that is as self-prophesying as it is destructive and as it is misleading.

It is a myth based on fear and the idea that there is safety in avoiding change.

Governments have, do and will succeed well by embracing uncertainty and making it work as they go.

This is the approach that must now be adopted, rather than indulging false premises based on the idea that finding consensus between decision makers will only ever be the first step.

It is a fallacy that such actions must be carried out before we have embraced and began working with the huge range of opportunities that will come from Brexit, just as soon as we step off and accept that things have already changed in the UK, that we must go forward and that things will not ever be the same again.
