A deal at any cost is no deal at all

Abraham Lincoln once said ‘nearly all men can stand adversity. But if you want to test a man’s character, give him power’.

Sadly, when our Members of Parliament do not pay attention to how the events they are involved in unfold and how other MPs have behaved around them as they have in recent days, weeks and months, it is hard to imagine that they consider the lessons provided by such figures from history to be worthy of any great thought.

Regrettably, such an approach on the part of our Elected Representatives comes at most disadvantage not to them, but to us, the People who Elected them. And we have the right to expect them to learn not only from history, but also from every opportunity as each and every one of them comes along.

Today, this avoidably chaotic Brexit process has reached a point where pretty much everyone outside of Westminster, despite MPs best efforts, has the true measure of what our MPs are doing. What their motivations are and what is now going wrong with British Politics full stop.

The general population may not be positioned or indeed be able to elucidate the reasoning of their position and views as eloquently as some of the Politicians who spend the better part of their lives in the media view.

But neglecting the reality that the views and thoughts of each and every one of us are as real, if indeed not more so than any of our MPs themselves, is a position that every Member of Parliament should now be considering in light of how clear the desperate nature of our Prime Minister’s and her Government’s Position on Brexit has now become.

We are faced with a situation where MPs should know from a catalogue of past experience that the EU was not going to play ball over reopening May’s ‘deal’. Just as it should be very clear to them that this is a Prime Minister prepared to do and say anything to stay in Office and keep her legacy in the form of her Brexit Withdrawal Agreement untouched and very much alive.

It is in light of this reality that we now see the possibility of pork barrel politics emerge, or what is in effect the prospect of individual Labour MPs being bought off with financial sweeteners for their Constituencies coming in to view.

With democracy in the UK so obviously in peril due to the behaviour of MPs already, the advent of this approach by a Prime Minister, who should long since of had the dignity to step aside, is both dark and worrying indeed. Not least of all because it is us, the same people who are being ignored by an Establishment preoccupied with stopping a meaningful Brexit, who are yet again being treated as if we are mushrooms. Treated as if it is ok to attempt to keep us in the dark, and that being fed on a diet of informational horseshit is all it will ultimately take to get whatever plan they have passed without us realising what they are doing.

However, the Prime Minister and all those with her who are willing to trash our democracy should be aware of one very big point.

We can all see exactly what they are now doing, and a deal at any cost is no deal at all.

The Prime Minister and her Government does not have a mandate to push through her flawed idea of Brexit at any cost. Neither does any majority constructed of our sitting MPs.

Any form of Brexit based on anything other than the genuine Will of the People – no matter how those against it choose to interpret it for their own aims, will not be legitimate.

As such it could, should and almost certainly would be overturned if they should appear to succeed in achieving what are clearly dubious aims.

It is what the cost will be to this Country, to our People and to our future because of this ridiculous, irresponsible and self-serving behavior on the part of Politicians who should know a lot better, that should now be of the greatest concern.

Our Parliament has a majority of modern-day quislings as MPs and they are about to engineer the biggest betrayal of them all

img_2445As expected weeks and months ago, based on what has now become this Government’s oh-so-reliable behaviour patterns and pretty much guaranteed form, we today see Theresa May’s scare-game entering what some of us do hope will be its final death throws, but alas, probably just another stage before we see even more.

Back in the Autumn, there were many of us out here in the real world who still hoped that there were enough MPs left in this Parliament actually prepared to put duty the People above self-interest. Not just tell us that is what they will do.

Yet on the Eve of what may in time turn out to be one of the greatest Parliamentary decisions which has an impact right across the British way of life, it appears that the a baseline of doing what is actually right on behalf of the whole Electorate is now a quality and driver which is absent within the make-up of our MPs, save for what is clearly a remarkably small number and perhaps no more than just a few.

Perhaps the most frightening fact about all of the Machiavellian behaviour, manipulation and the flurry of ideas which are repeatedly being sold as the reinvention of the wheel – in so far as a ‘Brexit deal’ is concerned, is the reality that all this rubbish is having the effect of making Theresa May’s claim to have negotiated what the British People Voted for, look almost credible in a way which it would never do so, if such comparisons had never been born.

Yes, we should take very seriously the prospect that there is a strategy at work behind all of this. Because being bullied by fear as we were in the run up to the Referendum has been seriously overused by the Establishment and this Government, and it has required them to develop their web of deceit in order to make what is in effect one giant lie look highly plausible when compared to what appear to be all other forms.

What none of us should take seriously is the idea, suggestion or otherwise, that leaving the EU without ‘a deal’ is anything less than what the British People actually voted for. And that furthermore, that it will disadvantage the UK in anything other than the short and therefore immediate term – IF people should be put in charge who actually believe in the UK and what real opportunity is there to be used for.

Be under no illusion.

Theresa May’s ‘deal’ was, is not and never will be the Brexit that the British People Voted for.

This is a deal which if passed tomorrow or even in a few days or few weeks time will simply tie us back into a relationship which will always be one sided in terms of benefits to the EU. It is not ‘leaving’.

It is Brexit in name only with not even a meaningful tweak added since the point when anyone with any common sense realised that under May’s leadership, Brexit was never going to be the end result, no matter what she says or predicts as being yet to come.

But the ‘solutions’ put on offer by others, the ‘would be kings & queens’, such as Norway, Canada +++, Switzerland, the inappropriately named ‘People’s Vote’ or even a forced General Election offer nothing better in themselves. They do not even offer a direction of travel towards the position of UK Independence of the EU, whish is what the majority of British People instructed and therefore compelled our Parliament and successive Governments to deliver as the end result. To do whatever necessary to ensure that is what the UK becomes.

The relationship that these sell-out MPs and the Establishment has with the EU would perhaps be best viewed as one they would have as drunks with a pub landlord. One where the first sip of the drink tasted undeniably good, but then the damage being done took place without conscious intervention, both at the time they knew they were drinking and over the longer term when they didn’t realise they were.

The drinkers were blasé about the real impact as they got high in an unreal world that they were all the time paying for, whilst that landlord kept on supplying them with more.

The sensible drinker in such a pub would hear the inner voice when it says ‘it’s time to leave’, ‘let’s get away from here and go home’, ‘we need to get sober’, ‘we don’t need anymore’; leave promptly and behind them close the door.

But the Remainers instead stood up at the bar and demanded a deal to leave, something that the landlord was only too happy to oblige with, knowing well that as drunks the Remainers would voluntarily and willingly subjugate themselves, just so they could come back, get shitfaced all over again and then place themselves in a situation where they would just give away even more.

No, not many people see the truth in any of this. But that is why we use metaphors and especially so when we are far too close to reality to understand what’s going on around us, at a critical moment in our history when knowing the truth about what these so-called representatives of the people are actually doing on their own behalf is vital, because they are telling us and letting many of us believe that its for us all.

There is nothing beneficial for the UK or our People taking place in this Parliament.

The majority of our MPs are sold out either directly to the EU or indirectly via misplaced loyalty to the people who are leading them – and therefore all of us, over a very steep edge.

Whether deliberate or by accident, they are all modern-day quislings. They are aiding a foreign power in the guise of the EU to take control over us all, step-by-step, lie-by-lie, rule-by-rule. And they are content to do so as they believe that their roles in Parliament will continue to be assured, knowing that they are selling out their own People and over 300 years of Democracy in order to facilitate any policy that will allow them to do so.

Anything other than leaving the EU without a foolish and unnecessary ‘deal’ – no matter what steps are now taken to bring it about – will be a complete betrayal of the British People.

It is not what we the British People Voted for.

And from any Elected Representative, we have the right to expect a whole lot more.

May’s idea of an honest Brexit: This is my truth, accept it as yours

Action speaks louder than words is an expression that many of our politicians would do well to remember before they embark upon yet another round of telling us what they intend us to believe.

Regrettably, even at the very top of British politics, the principle that saying will be seen and therefore accepted as doing is still alive and kicking. It is a big part of Theresa May’s survival campaign.

When I wrote the guidebook for aspiring politicians How to get Elected demonstrating what it is that good politicians need to actually do, it was this very disconnect between what the Prime Minister thinks and what she does that I had in mind as illustrative of everything that a good, responsible politician at any level of Government should never do.

At some superficial level, the Prime Minister clearly understands the basics that voters need. She can talk up the principles and ethics involved verbatim. But she has absolutely no idea that saying and then doing are two completely different things.

Put in the perspective of Brexit, there is simply nothing about what is genuinely best for the British People or our Business Community reflected in the content of Theresa May’s Withdrawal Agreement.

It is therefore clear that our future is currently in the hands of people who are either completely incompetent or are deliberately selling out their own Country. They simply have no interest in what the consequences of their actions will actually mean.

Over recent days, listening to Theresa May tell us all over and over again that she has our best interests at heart, with the clear inference that those opposed to her do not, simply gives the lie to her whole dangerous and fabricated reality.

A reality that has no resemblance to the messages that she keeps giving us.

A reality which is much worse than a sell-out that makes our existing relationship with the EU resemble the middle ground between her truth on Brexit and what we as a Country actually Voted for.

A looking glass reality that is not even located at any point in between.

The danger is that this whole false reality is being accepted by people who still mistakenly and innocently believe that a politician leading our country would always do what’s best for us and certainly would never sell us out.

As people in Northern Ireland, our coastal fishing communities and now even Gibraltar have already began to realise, nothing could be further from the truth.

But by the time everyone wakes up – with the absence of anywhere near enough MP’s in Parliament capable of thinking for anybody but themselves – this act of shear foolishness will have written us a defining path that is going to create unavoidable pain for us all.

Yes, even a Corbyn government is now increasingly likely. And whilst May’s version of conservatism is now terminally broken, on a respirator and fumbling along on borrowed time, every day that she remains in office with this travesty continuing to unfold, makes the likelihood that the Conservative Party itself will be irretrievably wrecked on the rocks that this all talk and no action prime minister has created, will like her departure be inevitable too.

People don’t build their realities upon what they hear. It’s what they see, feel and know about the world as they experience it which makes everything true.

May and those around her simply don’t get this.

It’s why we have Brexit in the first place.

It’s why May’s reality is so warped and out of touch, is taking us in completely the wrong direction and yet again only reflects the wishes and aims of the Establishment few.

The defining truth for any leader and political party to be genuinely successful is that they delivers on what they say. Not that it tells us what we want to hear and then without doing the things they are telling us, nonetheless expect us to believe that it’s true.

The fairy tale fantasy Theresa May is writing to appease a Foreign power is destined to go so far wrong and beyond her control that even the tinkering around the edges that some senior Tories are attempting will do little if anything to deny.

For Brexit to really mean Brexit and for the actions of this Government to resemble what it tells us with words, the only option is the misnamed path of No Deal and for the UK to Leave the EU on 29th March 2019 on WTO Terms.

UK Politics and many of its incumbents are writing a new destiny over Brexit. Change is coming and it will not be denied

img_1855Like a real-life game of consequences, nobody can predict what the reality and fall out will be from the mess our Politicians have made of Brexit.

No matter what the intention of individual MP’s and influencers, their input has only ever been contributory rather than conclusive.

As I wrote recently, they have no control over the ultimate outcome even when they believe they have won battles as they have tried to control the direction of Brexit from the point of the Referendum Vote, to the serving of Article 50, the UK’s departure date and the entire process in between.

The self interest and contempt for the Electorate throughout all of this has been breathtaking. The lies formed and propagated based at best upon the political culture of promoting ignorance and at worst deceit and treachery have demonstrated a disease and rot being rampant throughout British Politics which is in no way friendly to Voters, is thoroughly insidious and is an institutional malevolence of the very worst kind.

The lie is given to this whole cultural malaise through actions such as giving out gongs and Knighthoods to Politicians who are now so detached from the realities of the people who elected them, that their principles and therefore their votes can simply be bought as the need to consider the consequences of every action upon the Public are brushed aside.

No, this is not confined to the actions of just one Party – even though this truth is one that the self-serving nature of today’s Politicians will require them all to immediately deny.

Through action and inaction alike over Brexit, many of our MP’s and the people who closely support them are feeding a hatred and distrust of everything that Westminster represents, that the mess our Parliament is now creating will leave it impossible for them to deny.

Many of them will simply lack the credibility to maintain their positions for the future. Their hands are bloodied, they are selling us out and will not be able to simply attribute blame to the poor leadership that their choices based on self interest has kept in place and fuelled. Ineptitude in leadership which they have and continue to contribute to which will leave them with no place to hide.

Politics as we have for so long known it will soon be over. There will be a new guard coming to guide us and even if it wears the clothes of the Parties which currently exist around us, the content and the people who drive them will be very different. They will look on their roles very differently, respect their responsibility to the people who elected them and work together to deliver solutions which work for everyone, irrespective of noise and biased voices. They will genuinely recognise Mutual Aims.

The Welching of Brexit finally comes into view, yet there is still no sign that the Cabinet will stop May’s intent to sell us out and set it all in stone as she does

Understanding, exploiting and manipulating the flaws of basic human behaviour and voter psychology has been one of the key strengths of the EU from the very start.

Strategically, EU Leaders have long known what has been required to make a United States of Europe an irreversible dream.

Until Brexit, the EU had achieved a near perfect record of doing so.

Yet, in the bizarrest of circumstances, it is our elected leaders and the civil servants around them who have and are doing all the work to ensure that Europe’s supranational club of control is delivered across the UK.

Even now, the Prime Minister, armed with the knowledge of how all of her so-called negotiations and the Chequers debacle have been received, is still working towards the outcome of a Brexit in name only.

Theresa May is banking on the prospect of what she now tells us is Brexit being accepted as so, simply on the basis that time and the war of attrition which has been waged by the Establishment against all those who voted to Leave will have finally worn us all down.

Reading the articles in yesterdays and today’s media, it has become only too evident that the Prime Minister believes that she has achieved her own plan for us to accept whatever truth she herself defines as Brexit as being the very best that we can now expect to get.

With so many different examples of May being outed as committed to a manipulated form of Remain, then let off the hook, just to come back with the very same set of proposals just in a differently worded form, we should have been able to hope that by now, the more genuine of the Politicians around her would have already stepped in and pushed this very contemporary form of treachery to one side.

Whether Trident Tongued Theresa’s triplicity is based on ignorance, stupidity or something far more maligned, there is no way that anyone should be the Political Leader of this Country in circumstances like we find ourselves now.

The Prime Minister is clearly in no way prepared to stand up for our interests, and is committed to selling out not only her own, but the futures of all of us, whether we are young or we are old, to a supranational state which is systematically succeeding in its aims by ‘legally’ removing all processes and apparatus which can be used to identify and facilitate our independence and by which our legal sovereignty can be maintained, if not defined.

That wording is even being considered for a so-called ‘Withdrawal Agreement’ which could be legally interpreted as leaving the UK permanently tied to a Foreign power, their influence and yes – leadership, is at its best the underhand act of someone with only their own future at heart.

It is certainly not the act of any Leader who has a true understanding of the EU strategy AND has accepted that their first loyalty and commitment is to the people who put them in power, rather than to the idealism of a broken ideology whose mast they have selfishly tied themselves to and continue to be inclined.

Within the frenzy of ideas seeking to delegitimise the result of the 2016 EU Referendum and our Democratic decision to Leave Membership of the EU, few of the speakers scrambling over each other in the race to get their voices heard even hint at recognising the true magnitude of the events which they are helping to fuel as they develop around them.

And as we enter the week which sees the 100th Anniversary of the end of the War which we are taught as being the end of legitimised European Empires and the trouble that the leaders of such monoliths bring, our own Prime Minister is looking to sell us out irreversibly into yet another.

The consequences and reality for future generations of seeking the exit from the influence of Foreign power that they inevitably will, may well include the experience of such similar horrors that in the modern day could become even far more profound.

It is not too late to honour the contract and instruction placed upon Government by the EU Referendum Vote and Brexit.

Yet we must hope that someone, somewhere in a position of influence and power will now finally step in and stop May and the self-serving who dwell around her, before this mess and the trouble that is destined to come for us all as a result is fixed and firmly set in stone.
