Work With Me

I’ve spent my life working in and around real systems – local government, charities, business, community organisations, and the everyday structures that shape people’s lives. My background is unusual, but it gives me a way of seeing things that’s practical, grounded and useful in places where decisions matter.

I work at the point where people, systems and change meet.

If you’re trying to understand what’s happening, make sense of complexity, or move something forward in a way that’s honest and workable, that’s where I can help.

What I Do

Sense‑making

Helping people, teams and organisations understand what’s really going on beneath the surface – the incentives, behaviours, pressures and patterns that shape outcomes.

Systems thinking (without the jargon)

Looking at how things actually work in practice, not how they’re supposed to work on paper. Identifying the real levers, constraints and opportunities.

Practical analysis

Turning lived experience, organisational knowledge and on‑the‑ground realities into clear, usable insight.

Strategy shaped by reality

Supporting people to make decisions that work in the world as it is, while keeping an eye on what could be built tomorrow.

Communication and writing

Explaining complex issues in a way that’s accessible, grounded and human.

Helping others articulate ideas, decisions or direction with clarity and honesty.

How I Work

My approach is shaped by three things:

1. Lived experience

Growing up with very little, working practical jobs, and navigating systems from the outside in gives me a perspective that’s hard to teach and impossible to fake.

2. Cross‑sector understanding

I’ve been a councillor, a licensing chair, a local government officer, a charity manager, a business founder and an adviser. I’ve seen how decisions land from every angle.

3. A focus on what’s real

I’m not interested in ideology or slogans. I’m interested in what works, what doesn’t, and why. My work is read by people with very different political perspectives, so I focus on underlying systems and realities rather than party lines.

I try to meet people where they are, understand the constraints they’re working within, and help them move forward in a way that’s honest and workable.

Where I Can Add Value

• Understanding complex or messy situations

• Helping leaders see the bigger picture

• Identifying practical next steps

• Making sense of organisational behaviour

• Exploring future systems and long‑term thinking

• Communicating ideas clearly and accessibly

• Supporting community‑focused or people‑centred work

• Bringing grounded insight to policy, strategy or change

If your work touches people, systems or decisions, there’s usually something useful I can contribute.
